I have had the opportunity to rebrand the Forrest E. Everhart Memorial Golf Course in Chillicothe, OH. The course, one of the few remaining golf courses located on a VA campus, is named after a local World War II Medal of Honor recipient named Forrest Eugene Everhart. I wanted to make sure that this logo was striking, memorable, worked in a variety of different uses and paid respect to both Forrest and his accomplished military history. The final result...
The inspiration of this final logo was to have it resemble a military challenge coin. I included the shield to represent his combat experience in the Army while fighting for his country. The thirteen stars are aligned to mirror the stars on the actual Medal of Honor. The golf clubs in the background are a great way to incorporate golf and are arranged to resemble the famous crossed swords symbol (symbolizing battle.) The logo looks great in a variety of uses.
It is only fitting that the colors that were chosen for the course are a direct representation of the shades of blue that are used for the actual Congressional Medal of Honor.
Established in 1959, it was used by the Chillicothe VA (formerly a part of the third largest training camp for veterans during World War I) as a means of recreational therapy for their patients. For the stationary, branding and promotional materials, I chose to feature photos with the faded offset blue overlay to give them a nice, complimentary vintage feel to represent the courses long history.
The fonts that we chose are Airborne and Roboto Condensed. Airborne is a striking military-esque font that I felt greatly represented the golf course's military history. It is largely used for titles and shorter phrases throughout the promotional and branding materials.

The complimentary font that was chosen was Roboto Condensed. The font is a great structured and clean typeface that I feel fits nicely with the overall feel of the branding (when paired with the blue, faded backgrounds) and the color scheme of the course. Overall, I felt a sans-serif font would be more fitting with the cleanliness of the branding design of the course.

The following are select pages from the 2015 Annual Report that I created for the Forrest E. Everhart Memorial Golf Course.
Other signage as well as the hole signs I designed also stuck to this motif and included facts about Forrest and the golf course's illustrious history.
